Robert Palmateer graduated from high school in Toronto as an Ontario Scholar, attended the University of Waterloo on a scholarship receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1971. After the U of W, Bob attended Osgoode Hall Law School, graduating in 1974 and was called to the bar of Ontario in 1976. Bob opened his law practice in Bolton the same year and has continued the practice for more than 32 years. Bobís practice is primarily in Real Estate, Corporate and Wills/Estates matters. He is a member of the Peel Law Association and the Canadian Bar Association Real Property, Corporate Law, and Wills and Estates sections. Bob maintains currency in his fields through frequent professional seminars and lectures conducted by the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Upper Canada and others, and through the firm's in-house library and research facilities. Bob is a past president of the Rotary Club of Bolton, (1981/82 and again in 2002/03) and has served Rotary District 7080 on the Youth Exchange Committee for over 10 years, chairing the committee for 2 years 1997 to 1999. Bob has served Rotary as a discussion group leader at 2 international conventions. He will be the District Governor of Rotary District 7080 in 2009/10. Bob has been recognized for his volunteer work, as a multiple Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International, by the Town of Caledon Community Volunteer award and has received a Canadian Cancer Society Volunteer recognition award for 6 years as Chair of the Albion/Bolton Cancer Society Golf Tournament. Bob and Sherrin have been married for 37 years. They live in Caledon, have three adult children and 4 grandchildren.
